Derya was born in Ankara and she graduated (with a full scholarship) from Bilkent University Faculty of Music, Performing arts and Theatre. She worked at the National Theatre in Ankara. Then she moved to Istanbul. She has performed in many commercials, TV series and some theatres. At the same time, Derya is a yoga instructor and also interested in nonviolent communication.
Derya has a daughter named Doğa at the age of 3. Still continues to explore with her daughter.
She acting performs in Bontehond & Atta Festival co-production, “Wanted: Rabbit” at the moment.
